FAQ
Ask the hard questions first.
Straight answers. Where something depends on your own policy, we say so.
Your plan
Do I have to choose between my family and my retirement?
No. Amaan is one plan with both inside it. If you die while covered before the end date, the family you named gets the family benefit. If you reach the end date, you get the retirement benefit. Only one of the two can ever be paid.
Is the retirement benefit a savings account?
No. There is no balance, no interest, no withdrawals, no partial payout and no cash-back if you leave early. The retirement benefit is a fixed amount written in your policy, paid to you if you reach the end date.
What is the end date, and who decides it?
Amaan works out your end date from your date of birth, confirmed from your ID, and writes it into your quote and your policy. It is not something you or the app guess.
What happens if I stop paying?
Your policy rules give you a grace period, and a window in which your cover can be restarted. After that window, a cancelled or lapsed policy has no cash-back and no partial retirement payout. The exact periods are in the rules you see in the app before you agree.
Can Amaan change my rules after I buy?
No. The exact version of the rules you agreed to is kept with your policy. Newer versions of the product apply to new purchases only.
Your price and your payments
What does Amaan cost me?
Your price depends on your age, confirmed from your ID, and the cover you choose. The app shows your exact monthly price before you agree, and nothing is charged until you say yes.
How do I pay?
If your employer enrolled you, it comes out of your salary. If you bought alone, the app shows you the ways you can pay.
Why does the app ask for my PIN before a payment?
Every payment starts with the exact amount and cycle shown to you, and confirming it needs your PIN. That stops anyone holding your unlocked phone from moving your money.
Where are my receipts?
In your document vault, next to your coverage record. Every payment that goes through gets a receipt.
Your family's claim
How does my family start a claim?
The person you named gets a private, one-time link by SMS on the phone number you recorded for them. They open it, prove who they are, upload the documents and can follow the claim in English or Arabic. A policy number alone cannot start a claim, so nobody can pretend to be your family.
Does my family need to be in Qatar?
No. The claim is a secure web page. You record an international phone number for each person you name, and the invitation goes there, wherever they are.
What if the person I named changed their number?
Update it in the Family section of the app. The invitation goes to the number on record, so keeping it current matters. The app can also send them a secure SMS to confirm the number themselves.
Can I see claims in my own app?
Yes. Your app shows your claim history and status without exposing private details. If a claim cannot be approved, the app shows a clear reason and points you to Amaan Help.
Your language
Which languages does the app speak?
English and Arabic are ready now. Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Malayalam, Tagalog, Nepali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Kannada, Pashto and Sinhala are coming; you can already see them in the app, marked as not yet checked. Messages from Amaan and your documents are in English and Arabic.
I find reading hard. Can the app talk to me?
Yes. Every screen has a speaker button that reads it aloud in the language you chose.
Your PIN, your privacy, your data
What happens to my ID photos and selfies?
They are stored securely for the check and deleted after the final decision, unless a dispute or legal hold applies. Amaan staff never see them.
How do I know a call or message is really from Amaan?
Three rules: we never ask for a verification code, we never ask for your bank PIN, and we never ask you to move money or change cover during an unexpected call. Callbacks come to the verified number on your account. See How to know it is us.
I lost my phone number. Can I get my account back?
Yes, through secure recovery. We check your identity again, and two different people at Amaan must both approve before anything changes. Then you switch it on yourself. Amaan will never ask for your code or PIN during this.
Who can see my details inside Amaan?
Amaan staff see status and reference numbers, never your phone number, one-time codes, PIN or ID images.
Through your employer
My employer enrolled me. Is the policy mine?
Yes. Enrolment only puts you on the list. Your policy is issued after you verify your identity, see your exact rules and both benefits, and agree and sign in the app. Your family's claim path is the same as for anyone else.
Does naming my company in the app change my price?
No. The company you choose while signing up is your own declaration. It does not prove employment, does not change your price and does not set up salary deductions. Salary deduction is set up only through your employer, with your consent.
What if a salary deduction was missed?
The app shows you each month whether the deduction went through, and what to do if it did not. If your employer skips a month, your cover stays active and the app tells you.
